Catholic Health Services of Long Island is proud to welcome St. Joseph Hospital, formerly New Island Hospital, to our member organization. With a common vision of excellent, compassionate health care, St. Joseph is a natural addition to the Catholic Health Services (CHS) family. As CHS extends its mission and services, it provides St. Joseph Hospital with greater long-term stability and access to resources in technology, quality improvement and the economies of scale enjoyed by all CHS member institutions. Through its membership in CHS, St. Joseph Hospital can now expand the comprehensive, inpatient and outpatient medical, critical care and surgical services upon which the residents of Nassau and Suffolk rely.

St. Joseph Hospital was established in May 1999 through a joint sponsorship of Winthrop South Nassau University Health System and Catholic Health Services of Long Island. In June 2005, St. Joseph Hospital became an independent community hospital offering acute care on an inpatient and outpatient basis.

St. Joseph Hospital is a 203-bed, community hospital that provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient medical, critical care and surgical services. Its Emergency Department cares for more than 37,000 patients a year. Other vital services include an Ambulatory Surgery Unit, The Center for Sleep Medicine, hyperbaric medicine and wound healing, a Balance Center, an endoscopy unit, a full scope of outpatient radiology services, including a new CT scanner, MRI, nuclear camera and a full state-of-the-art PACS system.

There is also a Diabetes Education Center located at St. Joseph Hospital. The Diabetes Education Center provides both inpatient and out patient education services. Outpatient services include a comprehensive Education Program with individual and group classes, medical and nutrition education, and finger stick blood glucose monitoring and insulin pump education.
