st. francis hospital nurses

Catholic Health’s St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center® has been recognized for having one of the top nurse-patient communication scores in New York State by the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

The HCAHPS survey is a national, standardized survey used to measure patients’ perceptions of their hospital experience, and is designed to produce data that allows for objective and meaningful comparisons of hospitals.

“Our nurses take pride in providing the best possible care to our patients,” said St. Francis Hospital’s SVP-Patient Care and Chief Nursing Officer Ann Cella, MA, MEd, RN, NEA-BC. “Having clear and honest communication between patients and nurses helps pave the way for treatment decisions, as well as makes our patients feel heard, eases their fears, and encourages them to disclose important, relevant information.”

St. Francis Hospital maintains a 5-Star rating from CMS for consistently high patient satisfaction scores, and is the only hospital in Nassau County to achieve the prestigious Magnet® designation for excellence in nursing four consecutive times.

“The excellence of our Magnet®-designated nurses significantly contributes to St. Francis’ recognition for the highest quality and safest patient care,” said St. Francis President Charles M. Lucore, MD, MBA. “Our consistently high scores are a direct reflection of their professionalism and dedication.”

St. Francis is also recognized as one of the safest hospitals on Long Island by the Leapfrog Group and CMS, as well as one of the best hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
