Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center is a 431-bed, not-for-profit hospital serving the community on the south shore of Long Island in West Islip, New York.  A premier healthcare facility, Good Samaritan’s high-quality medical services extend across the continuum of care to all disciplines, both for inpatients and outpatients.

A stellar reputation exists for Good Samaritan’s first-rate oncology, cardiology, respiratory and surgical care, which are complemented by an array of state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging capabilities.  The number of visits to the Emergency Medicine and Trauma Center will surpass 80,000 this year, exceeding all other facilities in Suffolk County.  The Ambulatory Surgery Department, where patients have same day procedures, continues to treat an average of 375 patients every week.  

Additionally, services for women are available in obstetrics, gynecology, maternal/child care as well as diagnostic imaging for cancer screening and treatment.  Pediatric services have grown at a phenomenal rate over the last several years.  Pediatric patients are treated in the only Suffolk County Pediatric Emergency Department and, if necessary, admitted to the Pediatric Unit or the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.  Pediatric sub specialists are available around the clock to support these excellent medical services.

Rehabilitation services include physical, occupational and speech therapies.  The Department recently added a Pediatric Physical and Occupational Therapy Program and also a specific program for cancer patients suffering from fatigue.  

The need for expert cardiology care has steadily increased in the community. Good Samaritan was selected as one of the few community hospitals in New York to perform primary angioplasty.  The angioplasty program is a collaborative effort among the Medical Center’s Cardiology, Emergency and Special Care Departments.
