Catholic Health has named Yi-Chun Lee, MD, Chairman of Women’s Health Services. Dr. Lee was previously the Professor and Director of Gynecologic Oncology Division and Fellowship Program, as well as the Departmental Director of Obstetrics & Gynecology, at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn before joining Catholic Health in August 2021.

A Board-certified gynecologic oncologist, Dr. Lee specializes in diagnosing and treating malignant and pre-malignant conditions impacting female reproductive organs. Also as an expert in robotics and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, he will see patients at Catholic Health’s Center for Gynecologic Oncology in Babylon and will be part of the team of experts at The Cancer Institute at Good Samaritan Hospital.

He will lead a team of gynecologic oncologists at Catholic Health who specialize in treating the five major types of gynecologic malignancies, namely ovarian, cervical, endometrial/uterine, vaginal, and vulvar cancers.

Dr. Lee joins Catholic Health as it further enhances its women’s services that include breast cancer, gynecologic oncology, maternal-fetal medicine, obstetrics, pelvic health and urogynecology, and the Gianna Center. Additionally, the recently opened Family Care Center on the campus of Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre now offers services including obstetrics, gynecology, and maternal-fetal medicine. 

During his 21-year tenure at SUNY Downstate, Dr. Lee held several key positions, including co-Director of the Cancer Institute, Director of the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Program, Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology, and the Interim Chair of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. 

Dr. Lee completed his gynecologic oncology fellowship at SUNY Health Science Center in Brooklyn (Downstate), his obstetrics & gynecology residency at Temple University Hospital and earned his medical degree at Temple University School of Medicine. He has an M.Sc. degree in Human Nutrition from Columbia University and a B.Sc. degree from National Taiwan University.
