Now, the public has direct access to behind the scenes of one of New York’s top heart hospitals. St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center® in Roslyn, NY, consistently recognized by U.S. News & World Report and New York State’s only specialty designated cardiac center, is the subject of an edutainment series produced by Mediflix. The premiere for The Heart of St. Francis video streaming series took place at the Tilles Center for Performing Arts.

The Heart of St. Francis focuses on one of the leading cardiac care programs in the nation, starting in the Emergency Department, where the humanity behind split-second decisions and life-changing events is revealed in its raw, human form.

Throughout five episodes, The Heart of St. Francis takes us on a fascinating journey into the frontline of interventional cardiology. Follow along as the health care professionals and patients of the St. Francis Hospital Cardiac Catheterization Lab navigate medical procedures using technology at the forefront of innovation. Cardiac catheterization is a process that allows cardiac specialists to carefully examine the interior of the heart and, if needed, perform interventional procedures to alleviate blockages. The Heart of St. Francis is a rare look into the compelling and emotional journey of navigating cardiac care.

The Heart of St. Francis was directed and edited by Steven Nathan, who says “we were given unprecedented access and trust in the making of this show. We captured some truly incredible and inspiring stories and worked hard to present them with the utmost respect they deserve.”

“Steven and his team did an amazing job highlighting the people who make St. Francis a special place to Long Islanders and a world leader in cardiac care,” added St. Francis Hospital President Charles L. Lucore, MD, MBA.

St. Francis Hospital and Heart Center® has consistently been recognized as one of the safest hospitals in the country and is the only hospital on Long Island to have both a five-star rating from CMS and Leapfrog “A” ratings. U.S. News & World Report also recently ranked St. Francis one of the best hospitals in the nation in five adult specialties: Cardiology and Heart Surgery, Gastroenterology and GI Surgery, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Geriatrics, and Orthopedic Surgery. In these five specialties, St. Francis ranks in the top 1% nationally.

“My years in entertainment taught me that you have to connect emotionally with the viewer and listener if you want to get a message across - and this couldn’t be truer for health care,” said Steve Leber, founder of Mediflix. “My vision in starting Mediflix was to give the same excitement and intrigue that motivates us to watch a movie or download a song - what’s interesting and transports us emotionally, but packed with meaningful information and events that combat disease and build a bridge to wellness.”

Mediflix, together with St. Francis Hospital and Catholic Health, is proud to bring forward this important look into how truly world-class health care is delivered.
