St. Catherine of Siena Nursing and Rehabilitation Care Center Ranked As Top Nursing Home in New York State by Newsweek
Catholic Health Services’s (CHS) St. Catherine of Siena Nursing and Rehabilitation Care Center has been ranked the number one skilled nursing facility in New York State by Newsweek in its “America’s Best Nursing Homes 2021” report.
Additionally, the Newsweek survey placed CHS’s Our Lady of Consolation Nursing and Rehabilitative Care Center at 43 in New York. This is the second consecutive year St. Catherine and Our Lady of Consolation have been ranked among the top skilled nursing facilities in the state.
“I’m incredibly proud of the entire staff at St. Catherine who have worked tirelessly to keep our residents safe and healthy through the most challenging time we have seen in health care in many years,” said St. Catherine’s Administrator John Chowske. “The people we care for are like our family and every day our focus is on providing them with quality, compassionate care.”
The Newsweek survey highlights the nation’s top nursing homes based on performance data, peer recommendations and the handling of the current COVID-19 situation, relative to in-state competition. Nursing homes in the 20 states with the highest population size, according to The United States Census Bureau (2020) were included in the study.
Out of 10,647 nursing homes in the 20 considered states, 822 met the criteria described above. Of these, the best 400 nursing homes were awarded by Newsweek, resulting in a varying number of awards per state. New York had the most nursing homes awarded with 70.
