Welcome to St. Catherine of Siena Hospital, a proud member of Catholic Health and the healing ministry of the Diocese of Rockville Centre. Located on the north shore of Long Island, St. Catherine is a non-profit, 296-bed community hospital, and has served the residents of the Smithtown area for more than 50 years.
St. Catherine’s highly skilled team of physicians, nurses, professional and support staff are dedicated to ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of patient care. We offer services in general surgery and surgical subspecialties such as colon/rectal, urology, bariatric, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, and GYN oncology. We also offer emergency medicine and acute inpatient adult medical care. Our subspecialty care services include cardiology, neurology, stroke, infectious diseases, gastroenterology, women’s health and nephrology. Other services include diagnostic imaging, endoscopy, laboratory and pathology. St. Catherine is also known for its comprehensive Sleep Disorders Center, as well as its Center for Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Healing.
In addition, St. Catherine’s Woman Child Care Center is the first and only Baby-Friendly designated hospital in Suffolk County. This special designation means that St. Catherine’s maternity unit follows baby-friendly practices designed to optimize mother-baby bonding and protect, promote and support breastfeeding in the first few days of a new baby’s life.
St. Catherine has received prestigious recognition from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s “Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award” for outstanding stroke care and also received accreditation from the American College of Radiology (in the area of breast ultrasound) and was designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. Additional honors St. Catherine has received include the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and the Joint Commission’s Advanced Certification in palliative care and stroke.
As part of St. Catherine’s mission in providing community outreach, our staff has offered thousands of free educational health programs and screenings in libraries, town fairs, local fire departments and more. The health and well-being of our community is our top priority.
