Dr. Bill Dalosis

Dr. Bill Dalosis, DPM, Podiatrist, Center for Hyperbaric Medicine & Wound Healing at St. Catherine of Siena Hospital

Why are you passionate about wound healing?

My passion is realized seeing the whole healing process, particularly for patients that respond well to treatment. Unfortunately, when it comes to healing wounds, it is a very tough task that typically takes a long period of time, particularly for the diabetic population.  The patience is worth the gratification when a patient is healed.

Why did you choose to join the Center for Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Healing at St. Catherine of Siena Hospital? What are the benefits to working out of a hospital system?

There are great benefits due to the availability of the wide array of resources. The wonderful staff go out of their way to provide unparalleled care for the patient and are of tremendous assistance to the physician. Other resources aid the patient in the healing of their wounds, including hyperbaric oxygen treatments, skin substitutes, specialized medications and dressings. The ability to tap on the shoulders of the facility's vascular surgeons for assistance with patients presenting with complex wounds, in part due to poor circulation, and who can benefit enormously by specialized endovascular and bypass techniques, is a considerable benefit.

What sets the center apart?

The tremendous compassion for the patient, the aptitude of the staff to provide high quality health care, and their ability to make the physician's work day easier, makes me a believer that I'm part of an all-star team that does and will continue to make a positive impact on the patient’s health.

How would your team describe you?

I would say I am compassion and always strive for the best outcomes for the patients. I think they would also say that I am confident. Confidence builds trust, which is obviously vital in the patient-physician relationship, which influences the high quality health care we strive for as a team.

What can a patient expect on their first visit with you?

The patient can be sure that I will greet them with respect and do everything possible to make them feel comfortable. I listen to my patients, I answer their questions in detail and I encourage them to ask more questions in order to gather information. A comprehensive clinical foot examination the follows. These two components of the visit, in addition to any other ancillary studies, such as imaging exams, laboratory data, are critical in order to arrive at the appropriate diagnosis and to create the proper treatment plan. I am also fluent in four different languages, which can be very helpful.

What types of patients can benefit most from the expertise you provide?

A wide range of patients will benefit from my expertise. Our practice is very diversified as we provide routine foot care, treatment of ingrown toenail problems and open wounds, care for injuries such as fractures and sprains, and care for patients who have arthritis, gout, flat feet, tendinitis and heel pain, to name a few. We also perform cortisone injections and we have X-ray and ultrasound on-site. In addition, we perform surgery, from minor to complex reconstructive and specialized wound procedures.

What else is important to mention about yourself or the center?

My mission is not accomplished until my patients are completely satisfied.
