St. Catherine of Siena’s Breast Health Program provides advanced, comprehensive care for patients of all ages in a highly supportive environment. Our multidisciplinary team of physicians, breast surgical oncologists and breast reconstruction surgeons, specialized nurses, technologists, and radiologists, as well as a dedicated breast health nurse navigator, work collaboratively to create a restorative strategy customized to each patient’s needs.

Our Breast Health Program is accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a quality program of the American College of Surgeons, as well as by the American College of Radiology for breast imaging and ultrasound.

The hospital’s Director of Breast Health Jana Deitch, MD, was the first breast surgeon in Suffolk County—and only the second on Long Island—to be certified in Hidden Scar Surgery, an advanced surgical procedure that renders the incision virtually undetectable after healing.

“We understand the anxieties that can accompany breast health issues,” explained Dr. Deitch. “Our Siena Breast Health Program approaches health care from a 360° angle, ministering to the patient’s emotional and spiritual needs, as much as we do the physical needs. At Catholic Health, we know that compassion is part of the cure.”

Dr. Deitch is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellowship-trained breast surgical oncologist. She completed her general surgery residency at Maimonides Medical Center and a breast surgical oncology fellowship at Beth Israel Medical Center and Mount Sinai Health System in Manhattan. She is accredited by the Society of Surgical Oncology.

In addition to a stellar breast surgery program, St. Catherine also offers comprehensive breast radiology services. St. Catherine Diagnostic Imaging, located at Catholic Health Ambulatory Care in Commack, provides state-of-the-art outpatient breast radiology services, including 3D digital breast tomosynthesis (3D mammography) and breast ultrasound. All radiologists are board-certified and specialty-trained, with expertise in breast MRI and breast interventional procedures, women’s imaging, and general imaging.
