ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — Catholic Health Services (CHS) has named Margaret Mary “Peggy” Maher CHS’s chief development officer and St. Francis Hospital Foundation vice president for development. She replaces Sherry Friedman who recently retired.

In her CHS role, Maher works closely with the health system’s hospital presidents and foundation directors to further develop fundraising operations and establish a strong culture of philanthropy. With the St. Francis Hospital Foundation, she provides strategic direction and leadership to secure philanthropic support from individuals, foundations and corporations to meet the hospital’s needs.

Maher most recently was associate vice president for medical advancement for Stony Brook University Medical Center where she was responsible for all aspects of fundraising.

“I’m honored to be a part of a system that is known for its renowned care in many disciplines, including cardiac, oncology and rehabilitation,” Maher said. “The opportunity to increase the financial support for the many quality health care services CHS offers Long Islanders is something that truly excites me.”

With more than 20 years of professional experience, Maher has also held fundraising positions at the Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Science, New York Weill Cornell Medical Center and the University of Arkansas.

A resident of Lloyd Harbor, Maher has a master’s in public administration from Columbia University and a bachelor’s from Williams College.
