U.S. News & World Report Ranks St. Francis One of the Best Hospitals in the Nation in Four Adult Specialties- Including Cardiology & Heart Surgery

St. Francis Also Rated among the Top Ten Hospitals in the State and NY Metro Area

ROSLYN, NY, July 28, 2020 – St. Francis has once again been rated one of the top hospitals in the country in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings. The hospital was nationally ranked among the best in four adult specialties – Cardiology & Heart Surgery, Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, Geriatrics – and for the first time, Pulmonology & Lung Surgery.

St. Francis was also rated among the top ten hospitals in the region- ranking #8 in the state and tying for #8 in the New York Metro Area.

St. Francis was recognized by U.S. News as high performing nationally in four adult specialties: Nephrology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, and Urology. The Hospital was also ranked high performing in nine out of ten common adult procedures and conditions: abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, aortic valve surgery, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, colon cancer surgery, COPD, hip replacement, knee replacement and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR).

Nearly 5,000 hospitals nationwide were analyzed for U.S. News’ 32nd annual Best Hospitals rankings, but only one percent made the top 50.  Hospitals were compared in 25 specialties, procedures, and conditions. According to U.S. News, the rankings are designed to help patients make more informed health care decisions. The methodologies include objective measures such as patient survival, rates of infection, and adequacy of nursing staff.
