The Emergency Department at St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center® in Roslyn, NY, helps Long Islanders who are experiencing serious to critical medical issues and need immediate, emergency care. We treat patients 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Our highly experienced and compassionate team of board-certified emergency medicine physicians, registered nurses, radiologists and additional support staff are dedicated to providing excellence in emergency medicine.

    • Individual rooms ensure patient safety and hygiene.
    • Advanced technology assists in the rapid diagnosis of cardiac issues and other diseases.
    • Patients are seen by board-certified attending physicians who are experts in a wide range of medical and surgical conditions. They collaborate with the hospital’s medical staff to deliver first-rate care.
    • Patients are seen by registered nurses who are specially trained in emergency medicine.

    National Honor for Emergency Department

    St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center’s® Emergency Department has been honored with the Emergency Nurses Association’s (ENA) Lantern Award, which is dedicated to recognizing emergency departments. The hospital is one of only 33 hospitals nationally to receive the award.

    St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center® (Roslyn, NY) is designated by the Joint Commission and New York State Department of Health as a Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center—capable of mechanical thrombectomy and stabilizing and providing emergency care for patients with an acute stroke.

    St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center® has received:

    • 2022 American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®-Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award as well as the Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Award.
    • Advanced certification as a Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center by The Joint Commission.

    In 2022, 100% of eligible acute ischemic stroke patients were treated with mechanical endovascular therapy. Of those patients, 97% were successfully revascularized. The death rate within 24 hours of undergoing a diagnostic cerebral angiogram was 0%

    Paramedic-level ambulance service is available for Catholic Health patients at home, care facilities or physician offices needing urgent access to a Catholic Health hospital emergency department. Hunter’s 24/7 Care in Motion Transfer Center is equipped with software to facilitate single-call communication with Catholic Health providers requesting medical transportation.
