Kathleen Nolan

Kathleen Nolan, RN, has been with Catholic Health for 20 years. She started as a registered nurse in the ICU at Good Samaritan University Hospital and also worked several years in the hospital’s Ambulatory Surgery Unit. Currently, she’s part of the Interventional Radiology Department staff.

“The best part of my role now is that I’m at the bedside,” said Kathleen. “It’s an intimate role with the patient where I can make a real difference.” Kathleen also enjoys working with her colleagues within an environment of true team spirit at Good Samaritan.

How does Kathleen measure her own effectiveness? “When our patients come back and tell us they wouldn’t be treated anywhere else but at our facility, it tells me the work we do is exceptional.”

And Kathleen is committed to continued success. When she learned some of her patients were going home and not tending to their injuries, she made arrangements for a liaison home care point person to ensure patients continue care at home.

Also, as chair of the council for her unit, she has worked with others to make positive changes, such as developing new safety measures and ensuring all patients receive compassionate care. For example, the team set up a bench outside of imaging services for patients, obtained warmer gel for ultrasounds and even adopts a patient in need every Christmas. “I always strive to treat others the way I would want to be treated and to go that extra mile to do what’s right.”

Clearly, Kathleen is a big part of the winning team at Good Samaritan University Hospital. Thank you, Kathleen, for living the Catholic Health mission.
